Installation planning · Dallas–Fort Worth
A new build gives you a valuable opportunity to plan communications wiring while the structure is accessible. The goal is a clear plan for how each room will be used, with sensible options for change. It is easier to discuss routes before drywall than after cabinets and finishes are complete.
Start with a room schedule
Mark desk positions, television walls, media equipment and potential ceiling access points. Include spaces that may change function, such as a guest room that could become an office. Discuss speaker locations and control points separately from network outlets. Each cable should have a destination and a purpose.
Coordinate with the builder
Review routes, equipment space and any conduit with the trades responsible for the building. Cable selection and installation methods must suit the location and applicable requirements. Ask who approves changes and who documents work that will soon be hidden. Avoid making assumptions about pathways shared with other services.
Record what you cannot see later
Before the walls close, photograph routes and outlet positions with enough room context to locate them. Keep a labeled schedule and record any changes to the original plan. At completion, verify the installed connections and review the equipment location. Empty pathway capacity can be useful when properly planned, but it does not replace a documented installation.
